Back in the thick of it with Zoya Evvie

The 2012 Designer collection was a birthday gift from my Cocktails, Polish and and Sisterhood international birthday group. And the only Zoyas I kept when I had a big selloff. I had a hard time deciding between these six beauties, but went with the grayed out green/teal Evvie for my first "real" post in a long time. Two easy coats, still loving this color. Funny, this year's muted dark collection Entice doesn't do anything for me? Maybe this collection satisfied my murky dark needs. :)

Nail Rehab is working!!

Sorry for the gruesome "before" picture, but this is what I was dealing with after three months of packing and two weeks of moving. I didn't think there was any reason to move my polish, after all, these things would never grow back and be pretty again, would they? Well, after eight weeks, I am happy to report I've got a bit of free edge on all but one nail now and my cuticles have stopped bleeding! Hurrah for small victories!
My first foray was last weekend when my daughter Grace got married. That's the pale gray and glitter number, Priti Silver Birch accented with RUS polish in SN 01 (yeah sexy name for holo silver glitter) I followed that with LVX Azzurum, risking Smurf hands for a glorious navy cream. Heavily oiled cuticles before removal helped a bunch with that! And today brings us to Zoya Spencer, from the Naturel Deux collection. I'm not normally a nude fan, but these colors are deeper and creamier than their first collection. Spencer is the palest of the browns, a warm mocha color that's opaque in two thin coats. I have learned from experience, that Zoya really really does wear best with her own base and topcoats.

Hit Polish Nail Lacquer is back!!

I'd been a big fan going all the way back to when this line was called D & R Apothecary and she sold soaps and lip glosses as well as brilliant glitter nail polishes. I mainly bought huge batches of her minis and still have dozens. But then she was gone. But now she's back! The first offerings are a few glitters, mainly crelly and base polish type glitters as well as a bunch of holographic polishes. None of the holos sang to me yet, so I ordered a couple glitters, the first two shown here, a jelly teal/shimmer with bronze, orange, holo,  copper and gold glitters called Age of Aquarius and my personal new love, Black Pearl, a charcoal shimmer with gold and holo glitters. Black Pearl is everything a Nerd Lacquer would be if Amanda was still in business. Two perfect coats, fairly smooth, great coverage. A of A took three and still had patchy spots. I would probably lay this over a bse next time. Neither needed any special application and both were smooth in one topcoat. I would use two or Gelous if you wanted a totally glassy finish.

Ozotic 531....again....

There has been a veritable deluge of multichrome holos on the indie market lately. ILNP, Colors by Llarowe, Girly Bits, Above the Curve, everyone is jumping on the bandwagon. And with good reason. These "complicated" colors change in different lighting and with every hand motion, sparkling with those rainbows too.  I wanted to go back to the first ones, the Ozotic MishMash polishes, 531, 532, 533 and 534. These beauties are discontinued, but may be found on Storenvy or other blog sales. This is 531 three coats alone, the colors are much deeper and more pronounced over black.

NOTD

If you've never heard of LVX polish, then go run, google then buy these! Such a gorgeous high end maker with perfect brushes and dense streak free colors. Love love. Here is Monaco, a brilliant bright marine blue and D'Orsay, a lightly peached cream. I tend to use very thin coats, so I needed two of the blue and four of the cream. One day's wear, and the sun if coming out tomorrow, so I spiced them up with a quick coat of ILNP Mega.
