Tomato Reds with Literary Lacquer Greatest Treasure and Essie Meet Me at Sunset

I was feeling jellyish, maybe leaning crellyish, and remembered (how do I always forget?) how absolutely perfect the Essie brush is for my deeply curved nails. I was matching a sweater, so I grabbed the mini MMAS from summer 2011. I wasn't in the mood for nail art, but wanted to jazz it up a bit, so I added a few nails of the gloriously red orange LitLat. They aren't anything at all alike, although they look close in the bottle. (second rule of nail polish, the first being "pee before polishing" is "never trust the bottle") Ah weel, I'm happy and my nails look mahvelous!! Cult Nails Wicked Fast topcoat. (gonna miss this when it runs out)

Lazy girl's way to jazz up a tired mani...

Not really reviewing the Essie Sleek Stick Sneek-E I'm wearing. (although they are a thousand percent easier to apply than anything I've tried before, and only a couple nails aren't perfectly covered without trimming) Dollar Tree had a bunch of these recently so I picked up a dozen. Glad I did. I've been wearing the nearly fluorescent Sally Hansen Complete Salon  Firey Island for a couple days and I'm pooped from cooking and eating, so I slapped these thin flexible stickers on over the polish and filed off the excess. File and plastic tool for smoothing were included. Pretty happy with these, let's see if they make it thru a shower and doing my hair tomorrow (I run my hands thru it alot to style) (edit: I'm horrified at my cuticles- dry air and lots of cooking and washing...so sorry)

Throwback Thursday! (I did the polish Thursday...)

I was challenged in a group by Debbie Crumpet to use Thursdays to try untrieds or anything unused in over a year. I dragged out Essie Sew Psyched, one of my first TEN polishes, maybe my first five...and clicked around looking for ideas to jazz it up. I remember feeling so risque wearing khaki green polish to work back then.....2009? I stumbled onto Vicky at Boombastic Nails- GORGEOUS work she does, go, follow her... here. I forgot how lovely this green with gold shimmer polish really is- and I stuck with the rules using Lacquistry Witches Wart, I haven't used it since October 2012....

The PERFECT Summer Manicure!

I was craving orange. NEEDED orange on my nails. I've been contributing to a bridal magazine the last few weeks (go, see, here) and have been trying to go with the flow of designer clothes and accessories on the magazine, so I haven't gotten an orange fix in a while. I pulled out Essie Meet Me At Sunset, which everyone else seems to think is a cream, but is actually a jelly- a dense jelly, but not even a crelly- and did two coats. Sigh. Relief. Wanted more orange, so a thin coat of Girly Bits Sailors Delight was the topping on the sundae. More orange jelly with golden glassfleck. Heaven. Perfect- and a great pedi for those who can't bear orange on their hands. Dazzle Dry topcoat.

Riveting.....Mattified!

It's been done so much better than I can show, but I wanted this for posterity- the polish of the season, the break out star of the China Glaze Capitol Colors (Hunger Games) collection. Two coats over CND Stickey, then Revlon Quick Dry TC and Essie Matte About You. Lovely. Second pic I look very tan, but the color is closer to the actual.

Barry M (thanks, Crumpet!) Racing Green and Essie As Gold As It Gets

On weekends we wear green. After a disaster with Orly Lucky Duck (caution- stains) and trying to recreate a beautiful design I saw earlier today, I opted for the gorgeous deep blue/green Barry and his wonderful M Racing Green. Got him and some of his brothers in a swap with the marvelous Debbie Crumpet (go join her blog....here......now!  http://thecrumpet.blogspot.com/) and I decided he needed a coat for the chilly weather we're having- so he got covered with Essie's new gold flakie As Gold As It Gets. It has a wee bit of pink in the flakie as well as the gold- very pretty and covers well- this is one coat over two of Barry M. Base is Orly Bonder and Revlon Quick Dry Topcoat.

Gold Week Continues

with Revlon Golden Charm from the Masquerade Collection. A light golden pewter foil, it applied over Orly Bonder with the typical foil application I've come to know and dread: like pushing whipped cream all over my nails. These foils are fluffy, as though they've been put through a blender. Patchy after one coat, two seemed to cover, I would have done three if I wasn't adding glitter.
