Yeah Sonoma Science Experiment!

You know how, when you want to paint your nails, you think, "Glitterbomb!!" then, even if you're using glue base or foil removal, the thought of all that thick topcoat, gelous etc. takes the glow off your excitement? Fear not! This is one sparkly glitterbomb that took ONE that's right, ONE coat of Poshe to get smooth!!  I have a dozen or more of the gorgeous Sonoma glitters and while most are toppers, this one is a full polish. It starts with a lime green jelly base and adds tiny lime and teal hexes, then two sizes of holo hexes, medium matte white glitter and ROUND teal medium glitters. The precise shade of green in the base keeps this from looking like soup- I actually mat wear it for Easter since it's such a grassy pretty green. I used two coats and some dabbing, I might have done a full third coat.

Don't you love this label??

2 birds with 1 stone, err mani

MSMD and Tri Color Challenge! Here is the perfection called Manicurity Emma
I used Orly Green Apple, Orly Orange Punch and China Glaze Spontaneous. I'm not nearly the Master of Dots as is Emma, and I'm not sure this is office friendly, but it was fun! Oh also, with this orange being a jelly, the color mutated a bit over the other colors. Oh, please ignore that my hands are more than 30 years older than hers :)

Paula's Nails!

After a long hiatus, Paula let me do her nails! We started with a base of three coats of the shimmery white China Glaze Dandy Lyin' Around than I dotted flowers with the whole Color Club Electro Candy neon collection- my inspiration was from here- she used the Lime Crime pastels for a softer look. Dazzle Dry over.

Dandy Lyin' Around- China Glaze

I fell in love with this white glassfleck after seeing The Daily Varnish swatches here . The shimmer is just beautiful- I am so pale that light polishes look weird on me but the shimmer makes it so wearable.  My darling Kirsten (of The Geeky Owl- go follow her here) sent me a few polishes from the China Glaze Avant Garden Collection including this stunning white. I realized I hadn't done a full white mani ever and went ahead and rectified the situation. Here is three thin coats (could have used four) over Orly Ridgefiller and topped with Poshe. Sonoma Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence for the accent. That glitter is a hot mess to apply though- takes alot of dunking to even get glitter on the brush. I think it was one of her earlier polishes before bases got a bit better. Worth the work though, last pic is glitter matted with Essie Matte About You. I hope to do a comparision with "the best white ever {per ALU}" China Glaze White Kwik Silvr soon.

Detoxing- with Leighton Denny

I've snapped two nails lately- one is patched with the break far down into the quick- I wanted to wear something that would keep me from focusing on my nails and obsessing with it- so I went with the complex-but-office-friendly golden olive that is Leighton Denny's Doing Time. Leighton Denny is a apparently a higher-end polish sold in the UK in department stores. It took two very easy coats to cover- the brush and formula are terrific. I added a couple coats of OPI What Wizardry Is This? the sand finish from the Wizard of Oz collection just released that I received today in a ROAK (thanks Ms. Gnarly Nails) Dazzle Dry over the LD not the OPI.

Green for...well, you know!

The stunning Nubar Greener- deep emerald with a shimmer- not metallic, rather a fine golden glassfleck that makes this a top 5 green for me- one nail accented with Lynn Salad Days- (ignore the blue square- I did this last night after  a wine tasting and apparently my Gelous had leftover randlom glitters on the brush)

Oh Yeah, Untried! China Glaze Some Like It Haute

When I set my heart on full glitter removal, I figured it was time to try Some Like It Haute, from the China Glaze Eye Candy 3D Glitter collection from Winter 2011. It was a bit thick, but after I laid down the first nail, I just went with it as is. Next time I will thin it out. I layered one thick coat over Cult Nails Nevermore, a perfect one-coat black. Two coats of Dazzle Dry and the sparkle could blind you! Fine black charcoal and holo glitter in a clear base- I've seen this usually shown with two or three coats alone, showing a gray base, but I wanted the black effect.  I'm thinking fireworks exploding on my nails!

Another untried- OPI Rising Star

From the 2010 Burlesque collection- a shimmering, butterscotch-golden foil. I don't have anything like it- it applies very patchy on the first coat, but the second made it opaque with a little fidgeting. I think it almost has a bit of duochrome in it, from a pale orange gold to a deeper rose gold- fascinating. This one is a keeper, and not HTF either- Dazzle Dry over- still not perfectly smooth, but acceptable.

Illamasqua Rampage

Could NOT get a good pic, please google for better ones, I have been fascinated all day with my nails- from the glossy mossy deep green to the peek of jellyishisness peeking around the edges. This is a keeper- three thin coats with HK Girl over.

JADE Irresitivel and Extasy

Crappy pics, great polish- a bit sheer after two coats over base but I was tired- Office friendly but BAMM! in the sun. Irresistivel is a pale gold slightly chunky metallic holo that is bright in the office with that ever-so-sneaky holo shimmer barely showing until the sun hits it. Extasy is a smooth bluegray with the classic long line holo rainbow in the sun we all love. It also has a very slight shimmer inside, so win win for both. Topcoat doesn't bother these, nor do they need a special base. Bought at llarowe, also available at ninjapolish.
