Green for...well, you know!
The stunning Nubar Greener- deep emerald with a shimmer- not metallic, rather a fine golden glassfleck that makes this a top 5 green for me- one nail accented with Lynn Salad Days- (ignore the blue square- I did this last night after a wine tasting and apparently my Gelous had leftover randlom glitters on the brush)

Actually, The Grass IS Greener!
Another palate cleanser from all the holiday glitters- Enkelini had a 50% Black Friday sale and I jumped on the chance to try her holos- The Grass is Greener is a deep emerald/forest green linear holo- slightly jellyish, so I layered 2 coats over 2 of Nubar Forest. I may be headed back to her shop here very very soon- This is so deep and dark it would make a perfect Christmas green-I hope it's not sunny out tomorrow- this is going to make driving dangerous.

Elizabeth's Bad Curtains
Why, yes, that IS my name on a bottle of Lacquistry glitter nail polish! Thanks for asking! This story begins early this year when the brilliant Jenna of Lacquistry (go, like, here) randomly asked her facebook followers if anyone had ever wanted a polish named for them, like some brands that use girl's names?(but never mine) and she would consider making some polishes with names. I pounced and clawed and scratched and got my name second on her list. Then she started making customs with the intent to design the name polishes in summer, THEN SOME glitters in a few of her previously sold polishes apparently melted/bled and she took it upon herself to replace EVERY SINGLE BOTTLE of polish that had those glitters in them, bleeding or not. Hundreds of polishes. THEN she had to get a fall and Halloween collection out, THEN she started on the names. Whew! So here may I present, all credit to the wonderful, generous and amazing lacquiteer Jenna, MY polish based on the 70's- Elizabeth's Bad Curtains. I layered two thin coats over a single coat of Nubar Tiger's Eye, a reddish-copper duochrome. I was aiming for the glitter alone, but the base is only slightly tinted and I didn't want to use three or more coats. I added Gelous and HK Girl over.
Here is Jenna's description:
Oh the colors of the 70's! And the decor- oy vey! My Uncle used to have these curtains in his house that were this thick scratchy brown material with orange and yellow threads woven throughout. They were hideously Bad Curtains!
Elizabeth's Bad Curtains is named after Elizabeth Stern who was one of the winners of the Facebook "namegame" contest back in the beginning of the year.
Elizabeth's Bad Curtains is a darkened cool brown jelly with fine brown with brown holo, orange, and matte yellow mini hex. If you are a fan of polyester this polish is for you!

Needed a Pick-Me-Up
One of my facebook groups was having a deep discussion about holographic polishes, and I hadn't worn one in a while, so I grabbed my trusty Nubar Reclaim (note to self: get a back up) and did two thin coats over Seche Retain and dabbed a little Enchanted Greetings Earthlings (a salad bar of holo bars, aqua, gold, black and pink glitters in a greenish base) over a couple nails.
Nubar Reclaim is from their 2009 Going Greener collection that is still available from all the usual channels including ebay and amazon. Scrangie did a gorgeous review here that convinced me early on in my polish obsession that I needed the whole thing, so I managed a decent deal for the set. I love them all, but especially as this was my FIRST holo polish, it holds a special place in my heart. AND it's green. win/win. Effortless application, easy clean up, coat of Poshe to cover. (did NOT need Gelous over the glitter!)

This was SO much better in my head!
I wanted to do something pastel and Eastery using glitter- and most of the glitters I have are dark- brown, green, bronze, so I came up with the bright idea of China Glaze Snow Globe over a pale yellow. Now which one to pick? I received Nubar Mellow Yellow in a bundled blog sale and it hadn't gotten much love- kinda streaky and sheer didn't make it my first choice. I figured with glitter over it I might get some use from it. Unfortunately the glitter seemed to "wrinkle" the yellow or something? as well as "denting" it. Lots of Seche Vite and this may last a day. Live and learn!
The first pic is the truest- the yellow is really a soft pale lemony color. Pearly.

OPI Shim Merry Chic
Gosh this polish is gorgeous! I got it in a swap for a red Deborah Lippmann (yeha, like I would EVER wear that, right?) and I think I got the better deal. This is a foily-golden brown with what looks like crushed Unicorn Puke flakies in it- here is a review that shows the flakes http://miranniesnails.blogspot.com/2010/11/opi-shim-merry-chic.html
I wish I had a better camera, but it is fascinating IRL to see the different colors flash. I did a quick accent with Barry M Gold and Nubar Earth.

Green Weekend- sort of
Got my first and only Deborah Lippmanns from a sale at Juicy Couture and have been mulling what to do with them. The lighter metallic from the "Golds" collection is called "Believe" and it's a frosty light silver/pale icy gold with pink and pale teal specks. I used three coats over Seche Rebuild (not because I wanted to- this polish takes some time to dry and I smeared it after 2 coats) then made splotches with Nubar Greener outlined with Orly Goth. Seche Vite over all. Happy Weekend!

Green Weekend time again!
Helping with a Seniors Christmas brunch tomorrow, gotta get my holiday green on, too late for cutesy nail art so I stuck with layering- Essie base, two coats of the lush emerald green with micro green gold and red glassfleck called Jolly Holly then Nubar White Polka Dot over 8 fingers and Lynnderella Funny Money on the ring fingers. Gelous then Seche Vite!

Thanksgiving orange manicures!
From the beautiful Bettina Resort collection, the pure orange Starfish- 2 coats (amazing coverage!) followed by 1 coat each Nubar White Polka Dot and Black Polka Dot. Seche to cover- please forgive tipwear- this is day three, could not get the orange to translate well.
Also, Paula did her own orange mani, SH Salon Complete Kook-A-Mango dotted with Orly Spark and Orly Fresh- even her right hand looks great!

Epic Green Weekend!
Did a group buy on Lynnderella's with a friend and I wound up with 2! eeek! The Glittering Crowd (the on with over 100 different glitters in it) and Funny Money! Green Green Green! So in honor of this stupendous occasion, I did twp layers of the deep dark metallic-yet-not-streaky Nubar Greener with an accent nail of one, yes one (thick) coat of Funny Money. I may never take this off. Go buy Lynnderellas here http://lynnderella-lynnderella.blogspot.com/ on her site (when she opens for sales) or from Leah here http://shop.llarowe.com/ when she gets stock in soon. (second day with a bit of tip wear- oh Seche Vite over Nubar, one coat Gelous and 2 coats Seche over glitter)

Nubar Jewels- from The Prisms Collection
I showed the bottle a few posts ago, now it's time for swatches! My camera phone hates this color, almost as much as I love it- and it is a true one-coater! I put two coats of Fingerprints Haute Taupe under it thinking it would be sparse and glittery, but NOOOOOOOOOOO! This is a grayed-bronzey-coppery shimmer polish with the chunky holo glitter in it- the first pic is inside the next two in full sun- twinkle twinkle!
And contrary to popular reviews, one coat of Gelous and one of Seche Vite made it smooth as silk!
one more pic- inside NO flash:

I KNOW I'm in love! (subtitle "The One Polish to Rule All Polishes")
Ok then, Nubar? check. Brown? check. Glitter? check. Duochrome? check. HOLO?? double check! I would like to introduce you all to Jewel, my "significant other" (for now hehe) I was trolling ebay and there is a seller that has TONS of Nubar for under $8 each (shipped!) I caught a glimpse of this hunk and flipped! I think I can die happy now! here's what Scrangie said about it: " Greyed brown base with warm red-gold flash and chunky holo. Just like Gem but brown, same chunky holo particles, same subtle duochrome flash. Love it love it love it." The picture on Amazon and most websites looks like rock, this is a faceted gem, my darlings! Here is my crappy phone camera, even bad pictures cannot dull the beauty that is Jewel! Swatches soon!

First Layering Attempt- please be gentle!
I wanted to continue the "On Weekends We Wear Green" trend with a twist- I have been inspired by a few lacquer geniuses, especially The Swatchoholic (she has Clarins 230- Unicorn Pee- go see here here http://the-swatchaholic.com/?cat=201) so I used a base of Seche Clear, the lovely duochrome Nubar Wilrdlife (2 coats) one coat of Kleancolor Chunky Holo Black (I used Kleancolor instead of Nfu Oh 60 because it has a purple base as opposed to the gray in the Nfu Oh) and then a single coat of CND Jade Sparkle covered with Seche Vite. I hope you can see everything that's going on here, the next time I would use two coats of Chunky Holo Black- the larger flakes are a bit sparse, but I am pleased with it for a first attempt!

Out of Ideas-
So my brilliant daughter at college suggested I try a "Theme" week/month. So here you go- Golds! I love gold, rarely wear silver except as an accent, so this first one is the beautiful GR8 from China Glaze. It's the only one of the OMG collection I could afford on ebay besides FYI. It's a yellow-gold linear holo, actually, I think it's the weakest of the collection, but still gorgeous in it's own right. Of course, I couldn't leave well enough alone and had to dot it up with Nubar Conserve, a deep teal glassfleck. This is two coats over NfuOh Aqua Fix base and one topcoat of Out the Door. The tc does dull the holo a bit, but not nearly as much with China Glaze as it does the NfuOh holos.
